i'm not sure how to reply to a thread, (a post is it), so i will start again.
XP was no good so i restored back to original settings or so i thought. I am now back with Windows Millenium edition but the IP address to connect to internet shows as 0.0.0.0 and the BT internet cannot detect my ethernet or wireless connection capability. BT internet worked fine before I loaded XP.
I think XP changes some settings but i don't know which.
Can any one suggest any way to get my IP address back .... help please...

Having reverted from XP back to Millennium (presumably by a clean reinstall of ME?), have you also installed the drivers again for the ethernet and wireless network adapters?

You should have a CD that BT provided when you first went with them as your ISP. If you still have it then use it to reload the BT settings. If you have no such disc then phone the BT Internet Help Line. They may well send you such a disc or may even be able to help you directly over the phone.
