Livebox > Windows 2000...Help!

I have just got a Orange Livebox in my (shared) house. The problem is I can't log on wirelessly. I am running Windows 2000 with a RT2400 wireless card. If I use the ethernet cable I can access that way but the wireless won't work. I've tried the Orange disk and it just keeps saying my computer's firewall is switched on (which it isn't). My friend has a iBook which picks up the livebox's wireless signal fine and gives internet access. Also tried changing the channel through the 'configure the livebox' section but this didn't work either. I've just about thrown the book at this one with no luck. Suggestions would be most welcome.

there's no problem with the wireless card because it detects other networks in the house and I can see the livebox signal (via netstumbler) but it just won't connect to the internet.
