A little CSS advice please

Time for me to start getting to grips with CSS! I would like to divide a section of a page vertically using a dotted line, using CSS. Can somebody please advise the code, where within the page to place it and perhaps a site to visit where all these answers might be found?

Thanks.

A good place to learn the basics of CSS is W3Schools: click here

Code for all sorts of layouts, including two columns, complete with hacks for older browsers: click here

In the meantime here is an example I ran up. View source to see the code, it was done rather quickly so it is very simple but may not work in older browsers (I've only tested it in IE6, Firefox, Moz, Opera 6 + 7).

Special thanks PurplePenny for the example you knocked up. I have much to read and digest!
