Just a suggestion, install one of the Linux distros and play with it. When I started I knew nothing about Linux, I installed Xandros Linux and started using it, like most of the distributions they have very good forums to help. I've found the people on the Linux forums very helpful, they understand the learning curve is steep and will put a lot of effort into helping you, so don't be afraid in trying it and learn as you go.
