just started trying mandrake linux 9.0.

not to bad so far, printer and scanner working, but no joy with the web.

using cable modem and ethernet card (i know it works in win ME) every time i try the wizard, it looks like i make contact, then connection fails.

i`ve tried various permutations but no joy.

hopefully one of the linux gurus can help.

When I instaled Mandrake 9 I allowed the mandrake installion on automatic making sure my cablemodem was switched on and connected it picked up the DHCP servers etc no problem.

Perhaps clear the present installation and reinstall may be the answer, but I'm a total novice mind.

Taran may find this thread and can help now it's back to the top :o)
