Hi,

Can anyone tell me how to get hold of a copy of Linux, i have tried the linux.org website but i dont seem to get any sense out of it when i try to download.

Im also interested in learning about Unix, can anyone shine any light on it for me, eg. where to get it from and is it free?

Cheers

There are various "distributions" (flavours) of Linux available. All have their fans. You can actually get Linux on a "Live" CD/DVD basis which means you put it in your machine and boot from it without having to install anything on your PC. It is slower but gives you the general idea.

I've tried this with both "Knoppix" and "Ubuntu".

I did a quick search for "getting started with linux" on Google, which threw up this which might well help:

Go to click here where you will find all the "distros" listed (including live cds), which you can download.
Alternatively you can buy linux mags with distros on their cover discs.
