linux printing

I have recently installed a 2nd Linux operating system (red hat 9 ) on my pc I also have windows xp I am unable to get my cannon 865i printer to work with red hat but it is fine on the xp operating system any of you Linux people help me out thanks in advance.

linux uses a system called cups for printing - try doing a google search with cups+your printer name

sorry forgot to ask - have you used the config option to actually set up the printer?

Thanks dth yes used the add printer command went through the menus but when I come to print the test page nothing happens thanks for your help

Try deleting your printer settings and re-installing and print a test page - just to check.
