Linking a PC into a network?

I am trying to link my PC into a local area network. I know the name of the network and I think the network card is working correctly, but when in 'Network Neighbourhood' no other machines, other than mine, show up? any advice?

Do you have a solo machine, or are there other machines linked to your system (i.e. via network cards & Cables or Wireles ?

Yes, my PC is alone but is linked to a few others. I had to format and restart my windows and lost all the data, I was connected before this with no problem

see if you can find out the servers IP address and then in control panel go to network and internet connections add new connection the lan then type in the IP address of the server computer into the gateway section and it should work
