Lexmark Printer Problem

Hi!

My parents have a Lexmark Z515 printer running on a Windows 98 system. The power light on the printer will not stop flashing and it seems to think there is a problem with the ink cartridges. I want to install new cartridges to see if this will solve the problem but I can't get the carrier to move to a position where I can get the cartridges out. [It is supposed to move to the right position by pressing the button and lifting the lid but this is not working].

I can move the carrier manually and change the cartridges but the printer does not seem to recognise that they have been changed.

I was wondering if anyone knows how I can get the printer to move the carrier to the right position so I can get the cartridges out to install new ones.

Thanks
KJ
