how does the printer communicate to your computer? is it USB or is it Parallel?

if you look in control panel, system and then look in ports, what type of parallel port does it say you have?

There are several obvious causes that come to mind here.
1. The lead could be faulty.
2. The parallel port mode could be wrong.
3. The drivers are not correct.
4. The printer has developed a fault.

In your bios, look for integrated peripherals and then scroll down to the parallel port. This should say ecp or spp/ecp
save this setting then try again.
If this fails, try a different lead. If this fails, try uninstalling the software and reinstalling it.
