Left pane in Windows Explorer has gone blank

Can anyone tell me how to get the Left pane back using Regedit ?

I always use shortcut Win + E to open Windows Explorer. I edited the Registry to let the mouse pointer open a program by just pointing the arrow at the program icon. However that did not happen.
And though I undid that edit. I lost the left pane in Windows Explorer in the bargain.
The Windows Explorer displays only the right pane.

How do I resurrect the left pane in W Explorer?

From IE toolbar, click on show favourites, or history if you wish, and the left pane should appear showing whichever you have chosen. j.

This happened to my laptop a while ago,no reason I could put my finger, I certainly hadn't been near regedit.Cured it by going to microsoft website and downloading latest windows ME updates.
Hope that helps.
