LCD tv used as monitor

Hi all, I've just bought my kids a LCD tv which I am also using as a monitor for their computer. Problem is, their DVD/VCR is connected via a scart lead to the tv, and when the Dvd/vcr is turned on at the mains it causes the pc to crash. If I turn the Dvd off at the mains computer works fine. It seems that the signal from the Dvd player, via the scart lead is causing the problem. Is there any settings on the computer I need to alter to get round this problem, or what else can be done. If I keep turning the Dvd player off at the mains, when I turn it back on I have to keep resetting the clock, which is a right pain.
Thanks in advance
