LCD TV as monitor

I notice some LCD are now shown that they can be used as a monitor.
When watching TV we are normally say 8 feet away but the computer is worked on from say 12 inches -
does it automatically change focus when used as a PC screen?
Are these TV/PC screens as good as dedicated monitors?

I would respectfully suggest that you need a new pair of glasses...:-)

According to my cousin who has done this says the picture is excellent on his 51 inch LCD TV, but he had to alter the resolution to 800 x 600 to get the picture right.

Just to let you know, I have a PC set up with two screens. One is a 'standard' flat Videoseven 19" monitor, the other is a 20" HD compliant LG Flatron M203WA LCD Monitor TV. The latter is set to it's highest possible resolution level, and the clarity is superb.
