Launching MSN Messenger

  flashback 11:11 25 Nov 05

Does anyone out there know why my daughter is suddenly receiving the following message when trying to sign in to msn messenger?

The USERENV.DLL file is linked to missing export NTDLL.DLL:RtlDosPathNameToNtPathName_U

C:\Program Files\MSN Messenger\msnmsgr.exe

A device attached to the system is not functioning

I have tried everything i can think of including uninstalling/reinstalling, trying to use an earlier version etc.

Can anyone help?

There is a new version of MSN Messenger you can dowload from M.S. Website.

Could be that some unrelated installation has overwritten one of the .DLL's with an older version. If you're running XP, put your XP CD in the drive, select StartMenu/Run, type `sfc /scannow` (no quotes) and allow XP to check the system files.
