Last nights updates for my two Vista machines ,fail to install.
I get error 80070002 ,I followed suggestions for overcoming this failure.Which included > stopping update service > deleting temp. files> starting update service. To no avail.
Goggled error number and tried to install System Update Readiness Tool, this will download but will not install.
At moment Im not able to install 4 updates said to be important.
As anyone else had problems and overcome them?

Many thanks Ive tried all of those steps as far as I can,but no success.
I have a problem at the last step in that so far I cant get System Readiness Tool to install. It downloads, goes through installation process only to stall at the final initializing stage

Sorry but not sure about Vista. Can you try and download them manually from the Microsoft site.If so try 1 at a time in case its just the one that has a problem.

4 updates - 3 normal and an oddity - and it stuck at 96% during download.

I unticked the odd one out (can't remember, was it malicious software or something) then updated the other three (no problem) rebooted and installed the odd one.

Ive tried installing one at a time ,but no success.
Both machines go immediately to not installed with error as per my first post.
Any more ideas anyone?
