Laserjet help

I am having trouble with using a Laserjet 4100n as a network printer at home.
I have successfully connected two Vista laptops and on Ubuntu laptop but, try as I might, I fail at getting XP to find the printer.
I have downloaded the HP network setup wizard and tried using that. I have tried using the windows 'find printer' option.
I can get it to work if I connect it by the parallel port and print to it over the network from an XP laptop if the attached PC is turned on but, as I want to stick it in the spare room out of the way, this isn't what I need.
Has any one had experience setting up XP and an 4100n?

Thanks in advance,
