I have just bought a 1TB external hard drive. I have windows XP SP2 and the drive shows as 931GB drive in my computer and disk management. If have put about 225GB of data on it and now when I try and add any more it is saying that the disk is full. I assume that this is something to do with the old XP problem of not handling partions over 235GB. Can anyone help resolve this.

Format it through Disk Management, it needs to be set as "Basic" and NOT "Dynamic", also make sure you do NOT use a "Quick" format, but take the long option, expect it to take anything up to about 4hrs, or maybe a little less.

Thanks for the quick response Technotiger. It was formatted as FAT32 so I changed it to NTFS and it's working now.
