Laptops Advice please

Need a little help and advice from all you knowledable types.
I have a friend going into hospital soon for chemotherapy, long boring sessions, needs a Laptop to help pass the time. Has anyone got ideas for a not TOO expensive machine, it hasn't got to be the latest state of the art machine, just bog standard word processing and simple games. I dont know about wireless access in hospitals, could be tricky to setup. Your thoughts please on various makes and models ????

Thanks. amonra

"Simple games" could be the clincher here - it all depends on what you mean by this? If you give an example, someone may have a solution to offer.

If your fiend is into DVDs, then no problem for most laptops - they can cope with them. Same too with word processing.

Take a look at the toshiba range - I like them a lot.

Thanks a lot D.S. the matter has been resolved for me, his wife bought an Acer before I could advise. Good luck all round.
