i already have an aol/bt adsl broadband modem connected to my desktop for broadband. if i get a laptop is it possible for me to use the same broadband connection on the laptop as it is the desktop at the same time

How do you want to connct the laptop to the desktop?

You can connect using a crossover cable or if the desk top and laptop both have wireless facilities you can connect wirelessly to the laptop.

Yes you should be able to share it though a network. I have done it but some time ago, you may find there are more up to date people in the Networking forum if you repost there.

get a router to replace the Broadband modem that will enable you to share the connection with no messing about with unreliable windows internet connection sharing!
