When I try to start laptop. Windows Xp is loading-then it automatically shuts down and tries to restart again. Can anyone help? Do I have a virus/malware problem?

Are you running on battery or mains when this occurs?

Have you left a DVD/CD in the drive?

Do you have any other external device eg memory stick) attached?

Have you tried starting in `Safe Mode`?

Has the laptop been subjected to any impact/damage?

What laptop is it? Make, model & OS.

Further to your e-mails:

Is there any sign of liquid being spilled on the laptop?

Can the `kids` tell you what they may have done?

Have you tried booting from the Toshiba recovery disc (or better still the XP disc if you have one) and repairing any files that may have been damaged?
