Laptop won't power up after crashing?

  rosswitton 08:57 25 Apr 05

Surfing the web last night and got a blue screen error message and the laptop shut itself down.

Now it won't even power back up?
Anyone got any good ideas to get it working again?

Check the obvious first, fuse in plug, power at outlet socket (plug a desk light in), do fans spin when connected ? Hard Drive activity ? Floppy activity ? any lights coming on etc

Sorry yes, the laptop starts to power up, and the "on" light comes on, the rest of the lights flicker and whilst the screen is still blank it then switches off completely, this all happens within 5 seconds or so.
So yes there seems the Hard Drive activity.
Could this be some Virus?

See if it will boot from your "restore" CD/Windows CD. If not, than it sounds as if you may have a corrupt BIOS...or if you are lucky, just a flat CMOS battery, try changing it, and see what happens.
