Laptop won't detect my cd drive

Hiya. I have a laptop but it doesn't seem to have detected my cd drive. I recently reinstalled windows xp, and was in the process of reinstalling all my applications last night. I've tried to continue installing my applications this morning but then i discovered that somehow my cd(F:) drive is not appearing!

I've gone into my bios; looked at the secondary master drive; but it says its not there. So i tried the auto detect but its not coming up as anything....

Does anybody know how i can fix this?

If it's a Via Chipset you need to load Via 4 in 1 Drivers for EIDE click here
You need to check yours first with click here

Turned out that it must've been knocked out of it's port cos a good bash on the side did the trick!

If only all problems were this simple.....
