Laptop won't connect to new Vista

Main PC with XP replaced with new one with Vista. Now laptop (XP) won't connect to the wireless Netgear router. It can see it, but won't connect.

If I reconnect the XP, it can connect.

Surely, the laptop is just talking to the router?

The Laptop (XP) should connect to the router totally independently of any other computer in the network.

With the XP PC reconnected and the XP Laptop connected, what IP addresses do both computers have?

To check, open a Command Prompt window ("Start > Run", type CMD and click OK) and at the prompt, type...

ipconfig /all

...and press Enter. This will display details of all adapters in the PCs - example click here

In the middle of doing that, the laptop wouldn't connect with the old PC on-line. I reset the Router and it connected.

Then with the new Vista on-line, I reset the Router again - success! Connected!

So it seems when a new or different PC is connected to the Local Area, the router has to be reset.

Thanks again.
