hi ive just got an acer aspire 5630 running vista home premium, I also have a pc that is connected to virgin media via the normal cable modem, the problem is when i plug the modem into the laptop (so i can do vista updates) and click internet explorer it says there is no connection. I'm guessing laptops are a different to set up than pc's because i just plug my modem into the pc and go. thanx in advance

You need to load drivers for the Modem and set the modem up to connect as you are using Ethernt not Wireless

Cable modem will be bonded to the MAC of your main PC's ethernet port , power down the modem for at least 5 minutes to allow it to " forget " the bonding , then try again . See if that helps .
