Has anyone out there used a laptop for video editing instead of the conventional desktop.
I'm thinking of purchasing one so i can edit my video's from where ever i might be.
Basically i need to know if a powerful laptop would do the job as well as a desktop.

Thanks

It will be fine. I convert and encode on both my desktop and laptop. Of course the dual core isn't as good as my quad core (takes more time), but i'd still recommend a laptop as being up to the job. For reference mine uses a P8700 cpu.

Programs used:
sony vegas pro
convertxtodvd
adobe after effects

Depends on what you are converting and editing and as said the power avaiable. Not to mention ample memory etc.,.
