I am working on an aging laptop which has USB1 only, and no wireless card installed (no fittings for one either). Would a USB dongle connect satisfactorily, or would a pcmcia card be better. Thanks.

I use a dongle on an old HP (win 2k) with no problems at all.
Wireless dongle does not need the fast speed of USb2

I keep the PCMCIA slot free to use a USB2 card for the fats transfer of data to external drives.

Thanks for a rapid response FruitBat - if there is no problem with dongle on USB1, I shall shoot off to Amazon and order one.

Done and dusted for under a tenner with free delivery - I love Amazon!
