Laptop Upgrade

Hiya,

I've not really a clue about laptops...

I had an Advent 7107, but my little girl fell and snapped the hinges of the screen back! So it's being replaced by the insurance company with an Asus F3E-AP075C.

From what i can tell, the spec of the Asus is better than the Advent, apart from the graphics card, which i think the Advent one is better...

So, what i'm asking is, can i take parts out of my Advent laptop, such as RAM and graphics card, if it is indeed better than the Asus graphics card, and put them into the new laptop?

If anyone would be so kind to research this for me, here are the laptops again.

Old: Advent 7107
New: Asus F3E-F3E AP075C

Thanks in advance, would really appreciate help on this.

No you can't do that. The graphics is hard wired into the motherboard theres no way to remove it.

The RAM MIGHT work, possibly but it might not. Laptops only have 2 memory slots anyway whether you could even try it depends on you having a slot free AND the memory has to be compatible, not just the same type of memory, same speed but also the same parity etc etc.

You can't upgrade the graphics in 99% of laptops which includes yours. However the Asus would appear to come with a better graphics card anyway. (Intel X3100 over the older Intel 950).

You could potentially put some of the ram from the advent in the ASUS providing it has any free memory slots. Whilst the ram in the Advent would be compatible with the Asus it wouldn't surprise me if was slower RAM than in the ASUS (which in turn would slow down the existing memory).
