I have a compaq presario 9000ea laptop and am suffering from a problem with the screen/lid.

The problem is that unless the screen/lid is raised to about a 90 degree angle it can no longer support it's own weight.
I'm in fear of it becoming unable to hold its weight at all.
I know absolutely nothing about how the screen/supports its self and just wanted to know if anyone know whether this type of problem can be fixed.
Compaq want £100 just to pick it up and look at it as its out of warrentee now.

Any advice???
Thanks

See if you can find a local dealer to look at it, unlike a desktop, fiddling with the internals of a laptop is inadvisable unless you have a very good idea what you are doing.
