Hi - I want to connect a Philips Freevents laptop to a Panasonic Viera TV - can someone recommend the correct cable. And will iPLayer work on the TV by doing this?

Check TV has
* 1 x S-Video In
* 1 x PC/VGA In

Check laptop has VGA out socket click here or S video out (probably VGA)

Connect with vga cable click here

you may have to rely on laptop speakers or connect speaker to the laptop speaker out if no audio in on TV.

All of Panasonic Viera TVs have a “PC Input Mini D-Sub 15-Pin Connector, which you can connect to

the Philips Freevents laptop via the VGA output socket using a 15 pin VGA / SVGA Male-Male Cable

You would also need a 3.5mm Stereo Jack to 2 RCA Phono Audio Cable for the sound

click here

Once you have connected the VGA and audio cable, set the TV to PC source / input using the

“Remote Control Source / Input button”

You now have to set the laptop to access the external display on the laptop

Using the “FN” key (Function) and the “CRT/LCD” key look at the top of keyboard (F) keys

Hold down the FN key and press the CRT/LCD key once

Display will change as follows: -

Press once laptop display only

Press again external display only

Press again both laptop and external display

You must hold down the FN key each time you press the CRT/LCD key

You should set the laptop to show “both laptop and external display”

If set to “external display” the laptop will default back to the “laptop display” once you

power up or reboot the laptop, you will than have to keep setting the laptop to access the external
