Laptop Touchpad [mouse] running away - help

I'm not sure if I've done something or if the touchpad is trying to be ultra clever!! When I'm in Microsoft money and I decide to update bills or payment [or any other task] the mouse seems to take over and suddenly I've entered about 4 or five transactions which I didn't want. This has also happend in Outlook express when I'm reading my emails - I may have deleted a couple of emails and before I know it, the next 2 or 3 have also been deleted.

How do I stop the touchpad doing this. I assume that I am inadvertently touching the touchpad the it thinks that I want to delete or enter etc.

Has anyone else had this problem and how do you fix it?

Control panel/Printers and other Hardware/ mouse/properties and adjust the sensitivity of the touch pad from there. It can be adjusted from the slightest touch to having to actually tap on the pad to recognise a command. j.
