Laptop taking ages to connect to router

Recently this problem is occurring when I start up, if I log off while waiting for it to connect it then connects straight away as normal. I have scanned for Malware, I have changed Channels, I have reset the BT Hub to default. Any help appreciated, once connected there are no problems and I get very good connection speeds.

I have also flushed dns. I don't know if it's relevant, but the Volume icon has completely disappeared from the system tray selection.

Hmmm... I would delete your wireless connection from the PC and then set it up again. Make sure you select "always use this connection first" or some such message that appears (I forget exact details)

As for icons... whats the OS :)

This works for Vista, I guess W7 is similar

Doubt that I can help with the connection issue but details of OS and laptop model may help others.

I am thinking of doing a fresh install, but my disk isn't SP1, will windows simply update, or can I download SP1 first and save it to a USB Drive. Then install it when W& has loaded.

Have a look here , I've reinstalled with the home premium 32 and 64 bit from these isos. Handy even if you don't reinstall.

rdave13 Thanks for that link I am downloading now. If all else fails I will do a fresh re install using your iso.
