I am about to buy a Laptop for my Daughter to take to University. Amongst other things, she wants the ability to watch and record television. The key features of the Laptop I intend to buy are:

Dell Inspiration 9400
Intel Core 2 Duo T7200
2GB RAM
160 GB (5400rpm) Hard Drive
17in (1440x900) wide screen
256MB ATI Mobility Radeon X1400 Video Card.

I prefer to buy a separate FreeView receiver with a USB interface.

The Laptop comes with "The Integrated Sound Blaster® Audigy® ADVANCED HD™ Audio- Trial Version". Can someone explain how an integrated sound chip-set can be a trial version. Full version (£23.50 extra)

Is the graphics card good enough for TV viewing?

Is it worth taking up Dell's screen resolution upgrade from (1440x900) to (1920x1200) ? (extra £105.00)

Although not related, is it worth having the Dell 3year extended service contract? (extra £199.75)

Please comment.
