Hi , i have an opprtunity to buy a laptop , the person who is selling says that it has been used as a server so i would need to "sort it myself" , would this just be a case of reformatting and installing an operating system or is there more to it than that ? thanks in advance

of another OS should be all that you need to do.

Get the model number and ensure that you can get the necessary drivers if they do not come with the machine. Some can be hard to track down. If you can get them before buying the machine you will be in a better position.

The design point for laptops is not the 24/7 required of a server. If it has been used as a 24/7 server for some time I would be cautious about buying it.

MY laptop was being used as a server - stopped it now because it could frazzle my baby.
