Laptop Screen Gone

The screen back light has gone, everything else is working OK. Can someone recommend a not expensive TFT (say 15")that I can plug into the laptop - would it be via a serial or parallel port? Thanks David

Look on eBuyer - they are normally well priced.

The monitor will connect to the external monitor port on the laptop. There is normally a combination of Fn and Function key to use the external monitor port as well as or instead of the laptop's own screen.

However, if it is a backlight problem, you may be able to repair it more cheaply.

Thanks for your replies, have found some supplies of backlights, but not sure whether the inverter card that supplies the high volts has gone. The cost of the replacement parts is so very expensive I am currently considering the TFT alternative, hence my query. Will try Ebuyer. Thanks David
