Laptop repair issue, display connector issue

I took in my laptop hp g6-2138 sa for a thermal service and to fit a new keyboard to my local repair shop. There was minor water damage to the keyboard (I mean a few drops, and it happened 8 months ago, the shop looked on the motherboard and said there was no corrosion.)

It was returned Friday and seemed to work but on Saturday it stopped working. The screen showed no display but had a backlight. Took it back to the shop incase there was a loose connection, they found that the connector slot had shorted and melted on the motherboard video connector.

Now this seems like they've messed up, there's never been an issue with the display.

Do I have to pay for a repair or is it their job to sort it?

Any advice would be welcome.c

As it was working when you took it in then I would think its up to them to repair.
