Laptop power management or battery problem?

  Faser 13:56 04 Aug 04

Several times now the laptop has just switched off when running on battery and showing about 40% and 40 minuets. The laptop won't start until put on mains power, the battery then shows as 0%.

I have set the software to warn me at 45% and this is working. Has anyone else experienced this problem ? As I renewed the battery recently I would like to know if this is a software or battery fault.

Can't give a precise answer, but may jog someones memory. When you put in a new battery, the voltage monitor needs to be reset, otherwise it stays at the same point as for the old battery.

Thanks,I will try the guidelines for battery conditioning as they are different to the manual.

I too thought that some power adjustment was possible but I cannot find it. When I bought this machine it needed repairing and Win XP re installation so its possible there is a driver missing. As this an out of warranty Time laptop I will give paying a £1 a minute to find out a miss!
