i have a toshiba satellite pro 6000 1.1ghz laptop it needs a ac adapter at 15volts and 3000Ma the question is can i use a ac adapter that is 15volts but only 2500Ma

Very likely but keep an Eye or rather a Finger on the adapter just to check that it does not heat up too much.

You could also temporarily connect an ammeter and try the laptop with the adaptor connected and the battery flat just to check how much current it really takes.

You can get them much cheaper onebay! Check with the Toshiba site for the correct part number. I got one for £15!
