laptop to PC connection

I have just put a 3com ethernet card in my PC so i now have two one for bb and the other one i want to use to connect my laptop to pc. i now have a message in the bottom saying local area connection 3 a network cable is unplugged but i have a cat5e cable from pc to laptop. what else do i need to do to get it to work??

Turn it on! I suspect you need to enable your Network Card. Right click on the icon in the Task Bar and select Network Connections. Highlight your new LAN card and select Enable.

the card is enabled, in network connections it says it is unplugged??? i do not know what to do??

If you are connecting directly between two pcs you will need a cross-over ethernet cable.
