Laptop output

Hi, im using my new HDTV as a output for my laptop. now what happens is when the laptop boots i get a display the windows xp boot screen(knight rider i like to call it), then as soon as she hits the main interface i lose the display. i have tried the res and looked for any other settings but this spins me? anyone else had this type of prob?

what os and graphics card? has it ever worked ok?

its a sony vaio, and its XP and the tv and the laptop both work

On laptop you can change the display showing with the FN key & F8 Button

Hold down FN (function Key) and press F8 (CRT/LCD display button)

Every time you press the F8 button the display will change- laptop display - laptop & external display- external display only
