i have a laptop with no floppy drive or usb (its old)there is a cd rom but it is not a boot option in bios.
the problem is the laptop had a virus so the previous owner formatted the drive, however how can the operating system be reinstalled?
the bios boot option is from a or c and not the cd rom, is there a way of adapting the floppy drive from my pc to fit it through the parallel or serial or com port?
any help would be good

There are still plenty of places that will sell you an external floppy that will connect to the parallel port.

Try Google 'buy external floppy parallel' or similar.

This will allow you to boot to a W98 boot floppy, and access the CD to install Windows.
