laptop - need to convert serial port to usb

is it possible to convert a serial port on an old laptop to a usb port????? i know it is possible the other way around, but have not been able to find any answers.

any solutions to this problem?

No, but you may be able to plug a "PC Card" with USB ports into the laptop. It would probably need to support 32-bit "Cardbus" cards, rather than the older 16-bit PCMCIA though.

What exactly is your problem - what do you actually need to do - connect what to what?

The short answer appears to be no, there are a variety of adaptors to converts USB to serial, but nit vice versa click here

PCMCIA would appear to be the appropriate route click here
