My daughter has an Acer TravelMate 2428AWXMi P-M 1.7GHz 14.1" WXGA

It keeps shutting itself off, I have checked the ACPI settings but to no effect,
Anyone out there have any ideas?
Many thanks,

Could be overheating; have you checked that all fan outlets are clear and that the fans are working? Some compressed air will blow any debris out of the fan outlets.

could be but don't think so as it is new and is very happy running in my house but the minute it get to my daughters uni it plays up! and I have taught her to always run it propped up on a heave piece of angle iron to make more air way under it,
need some more ideas guys,

Have you tried it "propped up on a heave piece of angle iron" at home?
