Hi All,

I am trying to play videos from my laptops hard drive, through the television.
Have a sony VGN-AR31S laptop, when I connect it to my sony KDL-V32A12U television using a high quality HDMI lead it. It plays the video OK, however only sound comes from the laptop speakers, not from the television. Is this normal or is there a setting to have the sound come from the television.

I believe you will need to acquire a digital audio optical lead such as:

for the sound side.

Go to - Control Panel > Sounds And Audio Devices

See if you can change the Playback Device to Digital Output/HDMI.

There are some notebooks that don't support audio over HDMI only the video

If your laptop is like that you will have to use a 3.5mm Jack and 2 Phono (male) Cable from the

headphone socket
