I connected my laptop running win me via cable to my belkin 125g wireless router. It took the ip address of a pc that is connected via wireless card (runs win98se). This caused wireless pc to crash. Managed to get back to change IP on wireless but i now cannot access internet on it and nor on my laptop (i have never been able to on laptop). Keep getting told "cannot find server". HELP PLEASE!!!

Each computer/laptop should have their own IP address, e.g 192.168.20.1 & 192.168.20.2

Both should have the same Workgroup Name with each having it's own unique name, e.g. laptop1 & desktop1.

Enable filesharing, Disable the Firewall when networking, re-enable the Firewall once networking is complete.

If you have Norton anti-virus turn off the Firewall in that also.

If you are on XP, follow the Setup New Network Wizard, it is really good.

It's almost idiot proof (was for this idiot anyway).

If not, do a Google search for setup - on a friends computer if needs be.
