laptop display shutdown!

I have a Toshiba Tecra 8100 laptop machine. I installed Win XP Pro. And everything seemed OK. It has now started to cause the display too dim down at random intervals. The only recovery is to cycle ?function+F5? through a full cycle, 4 strokes with a delay between them.

This key combination is listed as changing the display thru internal TFT, external monitor, and external TV. I have shut down all the power save and screen saver options to no effect. Any ideas on how to cure this???

Best Regards;
Bob

Which Operating system did you upgrade from?

Also try disabling Advanced Power Management.

All power management has been shut off within the hardware and XP.

Upgrade was from NT-4 SP5.

Thanks;

Check on the laptop manufacturers site for driver updates.

Alse XP has a lot more services set to start as default than NT click here try disabling the ones you dont need.
