Laptop display problem

a mate has a Samsung V20 laptop which has gone awry. whilst booting, the screen is completely blank. shortly after the windows logon sound is heard, the screen slowly brightens to what could be described as a multicoloured barcode effect.just vertical stripes ov various colours and thickness. will it likely be the panel that has gone, or possibly the graphic drivers?

it may be the inverter for the screen or the graphics chip, but it needs to be tested properly to see what the problem may be.

If it's either of those though, it's probably not worth repairing.

Plug an external monitor to it use the key combination to change to the external monitor.

If still the same then graphics chip useless.

works ok with external monitor, google search says cable on these lappys is a common problem but they are about £65 and it's money down the pan if it is the inverter

If inverter or back light dead then the screen would be black with no image (or so faint difficult to see).

So if working ok on external monitor its probably a bad connection on the cable frome motherboard to screen.

i will check the connection on the cable to mobo, hopefully loose connection.
