Laptop comparison

Having read a number of articles on the differences between the various processors used in the latest laptops, I have been unable to clarify exactly how they differ in terms of speed in day-to-day usage. I am led to believe that an Intel Centrino M1.60 GHz gives better performance than a 2.40 GHz Mobile Intel Pentium 4 processor. Could someone please clarify the situation and also give recommendations as to the best laptops which are still readily portable. I await a response with interest. Bunno.

Lower power usage.

Reports have suggested that you may get 4 hours use out of a battery with a Centrino.

This, of course, is so long as you do not indulge in heavy use of a CD or DVD drive.
