Laptop cannot find wireless devices, please help!

  sarahanthony_ 05 Mar 12

Hi everyone, I have a SONY VAIO laptop which is a good 4 years old, however has always runned smoothly. However, recently I've been having problems connecting to my wireless router as it is not recognising ANY devices! The wireless is switched on however cannot find any wireless devices at all. The only way in which I have managed to overcome this is by uninstalling the wireless software located under the device manager. Upon restarting I am then able to find my wireless device perfectly. However I do not want to keep having to uninstal the software and restart my laptop every time I wish to use the internet, does anyone have any long term answers for this? Many thanks :)

Have you got Windows updates set to automatic.Just thinking that maybe Microsoft is updating the driver at every boot up.

The next time it happens try rolling back the driver instead of removing it.

So try turning Windows updates off and see if you still get the problem.

Or maybe check in Services to make sure WLAN is set to automatic and it has started on the top left of services.
