Laptop Boot Problem

I have a Dell Latitude C510. It starts to boot and when it get to loading the bios, it gets three quarters of the way and then stops and that is it, it goes no further. There is no operating system on it. It will not boot to a floppy. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Can you get into the BIOS? If so, have a look there and see that it is set to auto detect the hdd and also that it is set to boot according to A drive, CD Drive and then HDD.

No I cannot get into anything. The laptop just starts to boot and I'm unable to do anything with it.

If that really is the case then of course it won't boot. Is this what you really mean?

If you cannot even enter the BIOS, it is time to phone Dell

Sorry VoG® I didn't quite mean that! Even if I put a floppy in won't "see" it. I realise that it may be disabled but I can't even get into setup.

Yes VoG® I've hit every button on the PC. I've come to the conclusion that the pc is faulty.

Duff mobo; as jazzypop said, phone Dell.
