Laptop boot problem

Hi, my bro has a problem with his Advent 7090 (windows xp home) laptop.

He was surfing the net, the screen started blinking (?) and then the following messages appeared:

"pxe-e61 media test failure - check cable"
"pxe-mof exiting PFE ROM - operating system failure.

He's tried going into setup and booting from HDD and safemode (F8) dosn't appear.

Any ideas please, thanks.

A google suggests incorrect BIOS setting, failing hard-drive or damaged hard-drive cable. click here

It will be the HDD.
Either in the internal controller of the drive or in the mbr something has gone wrong And it will affect your optic drives and the ability to get to the BIOS

First try by removing and refitting the hard drive.

If you get it working immediately back up ALL important data.
